As a reminder: in accordance with 2007 NDAA, Section 801, members of the Armed Forces and employees of DOD with responsibility for generating (capability) requirements must successfully complete requirements certification training to participate in the requirements generation process. The Defense Acquisition University (DAU) has the responsibility for providing the congressionally mandated baseline training. The training can be found on DAU’s Requirements Management Certification Standards homepage – https://dap.dau.mil/career/rm/pages/certification.aspx
As personnel have varying degrees of responsibility within the requirements process, and correspondingly variable training needs, each DOD Component (Military Service, Combatant Command, and Defense Agency) determines what specific steps are required to certify their personnel as Requirements Managers. However, completion of the appropriate DAU certification course(s) provide the common baseline and must be accomplished prior to certification. DOD Components can mandate additional requirements courses and/or training to meet individual Component needs.
Please contact the Requirements Management Department at RMCT@dau.mil with further questions/concerns.
