This is the last of nine new Small Business courses for the new Small Business Career Field. SBP 301 is a Level III, eight-day classroom course that targets Acquisition Workforce personnel currently serving as or seeking to become Small Business Leaders in an Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP) role.
SBP 301 prepares Small Business Professionals for senior leadership positions in small business by showing them how their roles and responsibilities will evolve as they lead at higher levels of the organization. Through realistic, scenario-based learning, students work individually and in teams to practice strategic thinking with regard to how their small business office aligns with and supports their agency/organization's mission. They will analyze how to manage their office to better achieve this mission and address typical problems. They will also practice influencing skills for shaping small business policy and promoting small business, both internal and external to DoD. Through a series of simulations, students will apply key senior leadership competencies such as strategic thinking, problem solving, business acumen, accountability, and influencing to real world acquisition issues. Course work will enable students to contribute effective solutions to real acquisition problems and develop real products that can be used in the workplace.
I want to thank the Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP) for its close coordination with DAU in the development of not only this course but all nine new SBP courses. Now that we have completed all SBP course deployments, I encourage students to register for all courses to receive your certifications in whatever level you are eligible for: Level I, II, or III.
