SBP 110, Fundamentals of the FAR for Small Business Professionals, is now OPEN for enrollment. You can find it on the DAU iCatalog. Click "Apply for this Course" in the upper right hand portion of the screen. This is the seventh of nine new Small Business courses for the new Small Business career field. SBP 110, is a 34-hour distance learning module. This course targets new entrants to the Small Business Professional career field and all new acquisition professionals who partake in matters relating to the DoD Small Business Program. In this course, Small Business Professionals gain baseline knowledge of how to locate, cite, and determine the applicability of policies and procedures in the FAR, DFARS, DFARS PGI, and DoD class deviations. Students learn how the FAR and DFARS are organized and how these regulations determine what Small Business Professionals can and cannot do on the job. A series of examples teach how to use the regulations to answer questions and provide advice for acquisition teams. You don't have to be a Small Business Specialist to take the course. It's a great way to understand how a Small Business Specialist can support an acquisition.
I want to thank the Office of Small Business Programs for its close coordination with DAU in the development of this course. Check back soon, as I expect to announce the deployment of the remaining two SBP courses in the very near future! I am excited about this new career field so keep your eyes peeled for more courses to come. Currently SBP 101, SBP 102, SBP 120, SBP 201, SBP 202, SBP 210 and now SBP 110 are open for enrollment!
