Information Architect Responsibilities

The Information Architect for the resides in the IT Department and has extensive SharePoint experience at an advanced level. As such, duties for this position include the following:

  • Managing and maintaining enterprise metadata, including managed metadata and enterprise content types.
  • Making recommendations for adding new sites to the overall sites architecture
  • Recommending where sites should be added to the hierarchy
  • Reviewing sites with the Governance Working Group
  • Managing terms, content types, and metadata
  • Working with the DAU taxonomist to monitor the update process to the term store
  • Identifying candidates for search promoted results with support from the Content Managers and Business Sponsors
  • Monitoring search logs to identify candidates for new promoted results and synonyms
  • Identifying content that needs to be created or promoted
  • Monitoring ongoing usage metrics
  • Conducting periodic usability studies and subsequently briefing the results to the Governance Working Group
  • Working with Content Managers to ensure that the most appropriate SharePoint capability is leveraged to solve specific business problems on an initial and ongoing basis
  • Maintaining a collection of SharePoint examples and sample solutions for the Content managers
