Course Cancellations

All DAU resident and cohort distance learning courses have a minimum registration requirement.  Scheduled courses that do not meet the minimum registration requirement at least 30 days prior to the start of the course will be cancelled.  In these cases, students will be notified via the e-mail address recorded in their components DAU course registration system.  It is the student’s responsibility to seek another offering and request/process a new reservation request within their components registration system.

Course Rescheduling

If a DAU course is rescheduled, the student will be notified via the e-mail address recorded in their components DAU course registration system of the change in location or dates.  In these cases, the student’s reservation in the course is preserved.  If the change in location or dates conflicts with the student’s availability to attend, it is the student’s responsibility to process a request to cancel in their components registration system.

Student Cancellations/Tardy Arrival

Students who cannot attend a course after being notified by their components registration system of acceptance must process a request to cancel via their components registration system.

Students who fail to show for a registered course may be barred from attendance at future offerings determined by your component registration system.

Student’s who want to register for a different offering of a course that are currently registered for must first process a cancellation or contact their components DAU course registration point of contact for assistance in processing their action.

Tardy Arrival

A student with a reservation who expects to be late on the first day of the course should make every effort to notify the DAU point of contact of that fact (to include an estimated arrival time) so the instructor can maintain his/her seat in the offering. A notice about this is included in the standard classroom welcome message, normally sent out 60 days before the class starts.

Walk-In Policies

All resident DAU courses have a cut-off time, time after which, students are not admitted without special coordination and approval of the instructor.  Typically the cut-off time is two (2) hours after the start of the course.

Walk-in students (not wait listed), are students who present themselves for inclusion in a resident DAU course. PLEASE NOTE: Only local students will be admitted to the course under the following conditions:

  • All registered students have been admitted.
  • All wait listed students have been admitted.
  • Seating is available.
  • The student can provide documentary evidence, sufficient for the instructor, that all course prerequisite requirements have been met.
  • Course cut-off time has been reached.

Walk-in students admitted prior to the cut-off time are admitted as a tentative student and must relinquish their seat should a registered or wait-list student arrive tardy.

Except when DAU courses are offered as a Fee for Service, the assigned DAU instructor will determine which walk-ins to admit to a resident course subject to the above guidelines.  For Fee for Service course deliveries, the host organization will determine who to admit to the course.
