Better Buying Power Initiatives Industry Day
Ms. McFarland On April 21, 2011, 8 – 10 am, Mrs. Katrina McFarland, President of the Defense Acquisition University (DAU), will host a forum to discuss implementation of Better Buying Power: Guidance for Obtaining Greater Efficiency and Productivity in Defense Spending. This initiative was outlined in the September 14, 2010 memorandum to acquisition professionals signed by Dr. Ashton B. Carter, Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics. For the past six months, Mrs. McFarland served as co-leader of the team developing implementation guidance. During the plenary session, she will present an overview and answer questions.

Companies are invited to send a representative to participate in this dialogue. Following the plenary session, each company will have the opportunity to sign up for an individual, non-attribution, 20-minute session with a DAU faculty member. During that session, the faculty member will listen to your company feedback. DAU plans to incorporate feedback into the curriculum changes being made in support of the Better Buying Power Initiatives. The event will be held at DAU’s Fort Belvoir campus in Howell Auditorium (Building 226).
